Industry Trade Associations List - The list of Ohio recognized Accreditation Bodies created in accordance with the provisions of section 114 of the Ohio Building Code (OBC) and the Residential Code of Ohio (RCO).
"When test reports are required to be submitted or when the rules of the board specify that materials, products, assemblies and methods of construction are to conform to specific referenced standards, the building official is to verify that the proposed material, product, assembly, and method of construction have been tested by a testing laboratory recognized by the board and published on the list titled “Recognized Conformity Assessment Bodies” found on the board’s website at https://com.ohio.gov/divisions-and-programs/industrial-compliance/boards/board-of-building-standards.
The building official is to verify that the testing laboratory is accredited to perform the specific tests prescribed in the code by verifying the testing laboratory’s “scope of accreditation” found on the testing laboratory’s website." - Except OBC Section 114.3.1.1
The intent of this list is to identify those bodies that accredit conformity assessment bodies such as testing labs, product certification bodies (evaluation services and listing agencies), inspection agencies, field evaluation bodies, fabricator inspection agencies, and special inspection agencies, calibration laboratories for materials or assemblies, and Industry Trade Association Certification Programs.
The accreditation bodies listed are recognized by the Board of Building Standards in accordance with Ohio Administrative Rule 4101:7-6-01, Criteria for Board Recognition of Accreditation Bodies, Conformity Assessment Bodies, And Industry Trade Association Certification Programs.
Accredited bodies are subject to a triannual renewal where the next expiration deadline is set for July 1, 2026.
Conformity Assessment Bodies List - These recognitions are used by certified building officials for verification of the accreditation status of conformity assessment bodies where the Ohio Building Code (OBC) and Residential Code of Ohio (RCO) require testing, inspection, labeling or grademarking of materials or assemblies, and where those reports from such bodies are reviewed and approved by the building official on a project-by-project basis for building code compliance as required by the Ohio Board of Building Standards. The accreditation is in accordance with Ohio Administrative Rule 4101:7-6-01, Criteria for Board Recognition of Accreditation Bodies, Conformity Assessment Bodies, and Industry Trade Association Certification Programs.
Statement of Special Inspections - In accordance with Section 1704.2.3 of the Ohio Building Code the applicant shall submit a statement of special inspections in accordance with Section 107.1 as a condition for approval issuance. The State of Ohio provides a template that contains the required elements that are required to be provided in accordance with Section 1704.3. Applicants should attach the resumes of the inspectors declared in Part II of the statement.
